Thesiger Network (based in Liphook, Hampshire, UK) meets once a week on a Thursday from 8.00 - 10.00pm. We are a group of 18 to 25 year olds (both male and female) from the Petersfield District who get together each week to socialise and carry out an activity. Our programme includes events such as ten pin bowling, climbing, canoeing, shooting, films, football, partying, cooking, camping and archery. We are part of the Scout movement and so also support our local group from time to time, work towards achieving awards and meet up with other Scout Networks around the country at events such as Trek Cart and HV3.
Our unit is named "Thesiger" after Sir Bertram Sackville Thesiger (1875 -1966). Sir Thesiger was a personal friend of Robert Baden-Powell and helped found the notion of the Scouting movement. In 1908 Thesiger setup and ran the first scout group in Liphook hence the connection with our unit. He was an Admiral in the Royal Navy and went on to be the Scout County Commissioner for Hampshire. You can find out more about Sir Thesiger from the Liphook Scouts website. If you are between the age of 18 and 25 and live within the district (see map below) then come join us. Just email us and we'll answer your questions and let you know the details of our next meeting so you can come along as see what Thesiger is like. MAP OF THE DISTRICT OUR MEETING HALL |
